Important research needs to be done on local bars, restaurants, food, beer, and at least one hotel. Volunteers are needed!

I am coming to visit Lisbon from 10 july until 17 july for the first time. The 17th july I will leave to Cascais. I am staying in Cascais one week. I am travelling alone. I would like to meet locals, who can give me tips. And perhaps show me around. Looking forward to hearing from you!

As part of the VT treasure hunt meeting I have organised a friday night at the Wimbledon Greyhound Racing Track.

We will meet just outside Wimbledon tube station side exit by the Wimbledon shopping complex at btw 6.30 - 6.45pm. We will then catch a taxi or a bus to the stadium. The turnstiles open at 6.30pm and the first race starts at 7.30pm.
For those driving there is a large free car park. if you prefer to go straight there you can get the train to Haydens Road (First Capital Connect)

I am arranging the first ever VT Treasure hunt which will give you an opportunity to discover London in a whole new way whilst being cost effective.

I have devised 3 separate areas of this great city to explore with plenty of photo opportunities! All this will cost you is the price of a travelcard, lunch in your teams & your picnic dinner and perhaps a bottle or 2 of vino which will be picked up by yourselves en-route to the park. I have a supply of paper plates, plastic goblets & a bottle opener Londoners please bring picnic blankets.

Friday night (an optional event for those wanting to join in - please sign separate meeting page 17/07/2009) will take place at Wimbledon dog stadium - greyhound racing is a very traditional London sport. Cheap entry and if you decide to try your hand at gambling the bets can be as little as 50p. Saturday will be a treasure hunt involving teams of vt'ers let loose in London finding clues. The VT comittee have promised sponsered prizes for the winning team

The day will end with all attendees relaxing and socialising in London's fantastic Hyde park - at this time of year London is noted to have long balmy summer evenings so games (footie, rounders, board games perhaps), pedaloes / row boats etc can be organised. There will be plenty of places to pick your picnic up en route.

VT member yumyum (Switzerland) and me, (HORSCHECK, Germany) will be in lovely Szczecin (Poland) for a few days.

On Sunday the 19th of July we plan to organise a little international VT meeting.

I'm travelling with my daughter some days in Croatian coast and major UNESCO places.
But I do have also some friends in Ljubljana and at least another good friend (Santi) travelling at the same time around the area.
That means we will make a detour and will meet in this beautiful town.

The place is located in Trnovo, a part of the area along the river with
bars, restaurants, and cafes, some 15 minutes walking from the city centre and 1-2 minutes away from the river.

Anyone fancy a VT Camping meet in Bala, North Wales on the 21st - 23rd August? The campsite is situated in LLanuwchllyn which is a mile from the town of Bala, right in the heart of the Snowdonia National park & close the many Castles North Wales has to offer.

I've ordered the sunshine & warm weather in advance so fun & laughter around the camp fire, barbeques & general merriment are on the agenda.

I have opted for the Schweizerhaus in the Prater as it is easy to reach from all parts of Vienna. Hopefully the weather is decent so we can sit outside. I will put up a sign with VT written on it.

After three succesful meetings in 2003, 2005 and 2007 it is time for the 4th bi-annual Maastricht meeting.

This meeting will be a culinairy delight. Maastricht is known as a city where people enjoy life to the fullest, take things slowly and spend their evenings wining and dining.

We will start the day between 10:30 and 11:00 at the main train station in the little restaurant inside, where we will meet up. From there we will go to the city centre for a cup of coffee in a very special location. Later we'll have a old fashioned lunch at the old bisshop's mill. There are a few special stores and delis along the way where we can sample some local products. If weather permits we'll sit outside for a taste of the famous local fruit pies.

In the evening we can enjoy the Preuvenemint. A culinairy festival where you can sample dishes of many local restaurant. At 22:00 there is a performance by the great Dutch soul singer Berget Lewis. After that I'll probably call it a night.

I'm still checking a few things we could do, to see if they are wheelchair proof. So look back for updates!

The last sunday in august Emmen is the place to be for the 16th Full Colour Festival.

I don't know the exact program for 2009,
but to get an idea the headlines of the festival in 2008:
* music from all over the world at several stages
* Chinese, Argentinian, Moluccan and Turkish plaza's
* a multicultural market, spread all over the towncentre
* workshops for the kids and a plaza for the youngsters
* foodstalls with delicious food from all corners of the world

The programm of the festival will start at 1.00 pm and will end in the evening around 7.00 pm. The festival is in the towncentre of Emmen, a five minutes walk from the railwaystation. The towncentre is also easily reachable from the parking lot of the zoo. The entrance of the zoo is in the middle of the festival area.

We can meet around 12.00 at the terrace of café ´Rue de le Gare´ in the Stationsstraat. This (pedestrian)street starts in front of the railwaystation. Just before you enter the shopping area you will have this café at your left hand side. Or send me VTmail when you will arrive in Emmen and leave your mobile-phone-number.

At the same sunday is in Emmen the finish of second stage of the Spanish 64th Vuelta cycle race. The finish after 202 km is close to the festival area. That's why this year the Full Colour Festival 2009 will get a Spanish touch.

At the VT meeting calendar you can see that saturday the 29th august is the bi-annual VT meeting in Maastricht. So coming from abroad this is also a good opportunity to combine the south and the north of the Netherlands in one weekend.

Norman aka jumpingnorman is coming for a flash visit to Portugal and we set up a "last minute" meeting with some locals in this beautiful fisherman's place.
We are meeting for dinner in Alcochete around 8pm close to the pier.
