I'll be in London on November 21st and 22nd - anyone want to meet up? It would be cool to meet some VTers again (it's been awhile since I've been active), whether it be just for a coffee/meal/drinks or wander around. This doesn't have to be a proper meetup - I'm willing to meet different people at different times and/or on either day. There's a forum posting as well for a discussion.

I'll be arriving in the afternoon on the Saturday and leaving on Monday morning.

a bunch of vters from NorthEast Italy are going to meet up in Venice on Saturday 21 November 2009. The plan so far the plan includes going to see the boat bridge built across Canal Grande from San Marco Square to the Salute Church and then strolling in some of the less touristic neighbourhood of Venice. We will probably have lunch in some typical restaurant where locals go to eat.

So Good ole Claus (cachaseiro) is FINALLY coming to Mexico City and we will organize a VT meeting to share a good meal and some drinks with him and the Mex city VTers!!! Anyone else visiting Mexico city within this date is obviously welcome to join us too!!! The more the merrier..... See you all there, VT friends!!!

Meeting will take place at: DON ASADO restaurant, located on the corner of Presidente Masaryk avenue and Petrarca street, in Polanco neighborhood. This is very close to Mariano Escobedo Avenue (a big Liverpool department store is located 2-3 blocks away). Nov. 25 evening, exact time to be confirmed!!

I'm looking forward to seeing everyone - either again or to meet you - at this year's Christmas Markets Meet. Many of us will be staying at the Piccadilly Gardens Hotel, so I wouldn't be surprised if we don't bump into each other first.

As usual, we will meet outside the Starbucks on the corner of Princess and Clarence Streets at 11:00am. Here I will give you maps with the Christmas Markets Meet route marked on them and tell you where our 're-gathering' points will be. As always, you are welcome to (attempt to) stay as a group or wander off to the stalls that take your pleasure; the 're-gathering' points enable you to then re-join the group if you wish.

I am also pleased to say that, after two years of failure, I have managed to make reservations for our group at The Old Wellington (http://www.classicpubs.co.uk/theoldwellingtonmanchester/). We dine there at 4:00pm - so, if you get totally and utterly detached from the group, that's where to be - but more on that when we hook up on the day. Whilst the booking is already made, numbers will be finalised close to the day, so feel free to jump on board with this meet!!

For those staying on, we will wander the streets of Manchester, taking in the pubs of the Northern Quarter - hopefully, without the metal detectors and drug dog police visits of last year!!

It's already a tradition and it's becoming more and more popular: the Glühwein-Meeting at Karlsruhe's Christmas-Market. So let's get together for a few cups of Glühwein (mulled wine) and enjoy a chat with VTers from all over the place!

We will meet at 6.30 p.m. on the steps of the big church at the marketplace (Stadtkirche). After exploring some of the Glühwein stalls we will spend the rest of the evening at the restaurant/bar "Alte Bank" in the Herrenstrasse 30, not far away from the Christmas Market. I have made a reservation there for 8 p.m. In case you want to go there directly, ask for "Virtualtourist" or "Wagner".

I am looking forward to meeting you all (again or for the first time)!

P.S. For all of those who might consider spending (part of) the weekend here in Karlsruhe, be sure to get tips and inspiration from the Karlsruhe Euromeet 2008 page or any of the numerous VT Karlsruhe pages. And I am sure that Friday evening will be perfect to make plans for Saturday and Sunday!

I will be in Essen to attend the official red dot gala on 9 December 2009 at the Red Dot Design Museum in Essen. I would love to meet up over drinks/dinner with some VT members living in Essen or travelling to Essen. May I suggest the 10th of December at 6.30 in the evening? This will be my first visit to Essen, so I will leave it to one of you who knows Essen well to suggest a good place.

Take U3 and get out at station Rochusmarkt. There you walk to the side of the market that is closest to the city-centre. Salmgasse starts at this end of Rochusmarkt.

Why not making a break in Vienna on your way to the Euro-meeting2010 in Krakow ?
There are cheap flights to Vienna and even cheaper to Bratislava (with excellent bus-connection to Vienna)
From Vienna to Krakow there is a good train-connection, including nighttrains.

I have scheduled a full week here, but of course you can come as well for just 1-2 days before you move to Krakow
I am planning tours through Vienna
excursion to Wachau (Danube-valley with Melk, Duernstein, Krems)
daytrip to Bratislava, can be done easily by train

Lets meet at Karlsplatz and take a look into the museum there for some great paintings of Klimt & Schiele.
Afterwards we take the tram and do also a bit of walking in order to get to Hermesvilla, a small palace in the outskirts of Vienna. It was the favorite palace of empress Sissi.
All of the places we are visiting today are free every sunday, so all that you need is a ticket for the trams.

Lets take the train to Melk in order to visit the great monastery
Then we take the ship to Duernstein where we will spend some time walking around, tasting the local wine
then we will take the train to Krems, where we can walk a bit through the great town before we return to Vienna

Lets make a daytrip to Bratislava by train.
The ticket is around 14 euros and includes all trams and buses in Bratislava
Trains are leaving each hour from Vienna and Bratislava

Of course you can take as well the twincity-cruiser, but you need to reserve and it is around 38 euros one way

Inviting all VT members to come see Romania and its wonderful city of Sibiu, which is one of the nicest city. In my opinion the nicest as I'm emotionally attached to it as my mother was born here and I used to make every second holiday when I was a child here.

Knowing the city and the region (Marginimea Sibiului rural area, Cibin river, Dumbrava forest, Fagaras mountains) we (some of the Romanian members, including Petruta which is from Sibiu) take the chance of organizing a post-meeting after what will be an exceptional one in Krakow. It's no competition what so ever :) it's an occasion to know Romania, it's lands, people and sights. And not the least it's cuisine (food and drinks).

It's one year ahead but we have so much to organize, for the moment I would like to know how many are interested to come so we can make tips about transportation (trains, planes and automobiles). I don't know yet which is best - because there are 830 km from Krakow to Sibiu, so it won't be a short trip.

2) trough MUNICH (Total time: 5h25min):
a) Lufthansa fl.3337 / LOT fl.5383: Krakow (dep.6:50) - Munich (arr.8:15)
b) Tarom fl.RO316: Munich (dep.10:25) - Sibiu (arr.13:15 Mondays and Thursdays or 13:40 rest of the week)

UPDATE 2 - Transport from Lviv to Sibiu (by PLANE&TRAIN):

1) Carpatair flight V3/834 from Lviv departing 06:45 arriving Timisoara at 8:00 (lowest price one way EUR 54 for early booking) then Carpatair flight V3/2438 departing 15:05 and arriving Sibiu at 15:45 (lowest price one way EUR 44) - Total price: EUR 100, Total time: 9 hours. This is the recommended transport.

2) Carpatair flight V3/834 from Lviv departing 06:45 arriving Timisoara at 8:00 (lowest price one way EUR 54 for early booking) then spend some time in Timisoara between airport and train station (Timisoara is a nice city) .. then the "Rapid" train R814 from Timisoara departing 15:50 arriving Sibiu 21:26 (EUR 23 one way 1st class). Total price: EUR 77, Total time: 15 hours

3) Carpatair flight V3/834 from Lviv departing 06:45 arriving Timisoara at 8:00 (lowest price one way EUR 54 for early booking) then bus Apetrans (this is the company) departing Timisoara 14:00 and arriving Sibiu 20:30 (price EUR 10). Total price: EUR 64, Total time: 14 hours

Having missed out on Euro 2008 with England I am so confident that they will qualify this time that I'm posting this VT Meet.

Initial plan is to watch some football and drink some alcohol at the fan village.
